Some very basic set ups for Windows 9X-related email applications &amp; for Netscape too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Internet Explorer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Open Internet Explorer (After New Install)\/ \u201cConnect via LAN\u201d (Note: the \u201cInternet Connection Wizard\u201d can also be opened via Start\\Programs\\Accessories\\Internet Tools)<br>LAN Internet configurations: don\u2019t check anything, as we don\u2019t use proxy settings.<br>When prompted: \u201cSet Up Email Now?\u201d answer NO! Complete Email Setup later.<br>Upon Finish: Optional: type in \u201ccompany.company1.com\u201d in address bar of IE. In Tools\/Internet Options, Home Page, select \u201cUse Current\u201d :&gt;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Outlook 98 Setup<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select \u201cMail\u201d in IE to open up Outlook 98. Or open from Desktop, etc. Assuming this is the first time, set up a new account. (Another option: Open Outlook 09, Tools\/Accounts). Input the user\u2019s full name first, then email address (user_name@company.company1.com).<br>Input: POP3\/SMTP Information: first, POP settings: \u201cpop.adc.company.company1.com\u201d<br>Then, SMTP server name: \u201csmtp.adc.company.company1.com\u201d<br>The Password=\u201dpassword\u201d (until first log on, then user will be forced to change).<br>Advanced: no changes (ports are set correctly by default)<br>When Completed, if needed: Open Outlook 98 and: go to Tools\/Options\/Mail Delivery, check \u2018Send Messages immediately\u2019 (if you don\u2019t do this, many new users WILL contact IT Support complaining that the Email does not work: messages sit in the outbox by default for a matter of time). Then, change Mail Format to HTML. OK, this is debatable. However, there have been many requests, especially from the Business Development and Marketing-related groups, to have more email formatting options available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Netscape Communicator (4.x)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open Mail Client\/Edit\/Preferences\/Mail &amp; NewsGroups\/Servers.<br>Identity: Input name, Username, email, etc.<br>In Mail Servers: Input Incoming, \u201cpop.adc.company.company1.com\u201d.<br>\u2018Add\u2019, \u2018Edit\u2019, \u201csmtp.adc.company.company1.com\u2019.
